Old and Ugly into a “Work of Art” piece of furniture!

Mike and his fantastic crew at Off the Bolt Fabrics did an unbelievable job in recovering an old, ugly settee that we purchased at a consignment warehouse.  The workmanship, time, effort and artistry has transformed a little small couch into a piece of art in our home.  I cannot stop looking at this beautiful piece in our family room.

I’ve used Mike for about 20 years for all of my upholstery needs.  He’s always been honest, fair, on time and most important to me, his work is beyond compare.

Thanks to everyone at Off the Bolt for making my “ugly duckling couch” into a beautiful piece of art.  We’re thrilled!

BargainsLA.com Loves Off The Bolt!

We love it when anyone comes to our store and lets us make them happy. We especially like it when an important blog like BargainsLA.com visits our store, loves it, and tells the world about us.

Here is their own rave about Off The Bolt Fabrics.

Enjoy!

A long overdue small re-upholstery job, has had me scrounging around fabrics stores lately looking for that perfect fabric for a vanity bench. A friend recently reminded about Off the Bolt, so I decided to check it out.

This well organized store has bolts and bolts of better upholstery and home décor fabrics at 20%-50% off original retail. Though not quite as cheap as downtown, the parking is easy and free and the savings here are solid.

Fabrics are separated by use… either upholstery or home décor/ curtains. You’ll find velvets, chenille’s, cotton blends, poly, silk and silk blends, linen, micro-fiber suede’s, vinyl’s, leather hides and more by well known textile houses like Kaufmann, Waverly, Covington, Robert Allen, Merrimac and others.

Good buys include a Kaufmann upholstery fabric for $19.95 a yard instead of $31.95. A Covington cotton print was $12.95 instead of $16. A Waverly green floral cotton was $23 instead of $35. A chenille cotton was $14.95 a yard instead of $40. A sheer window fabric w/ embroidery is here at $8.95 a yard instead of $12. A washable silk is $13.95 instead of $16-$18. Some pinstripe window or upholstery fabric was $11.95 instead of $15. A Merrimac tweeded textured fabric (very mod) was $20.95 a yard instead of $60-$80 regular price. An incredible silk jacquard was $49.95. Retail would range upwards of $100 a yard.

Another advantage of shopping here is they have an in-store upholstery company, Di Giacomo Upholstery. Pricing is more than fair with labor prices ranging from $695-$795 for a basic 7 foot sofa. After looking at some finished products, I can attest, the workmanship is very good.

They also do curtains with a labor cost of roughly $45 a panel. The people here are nice, knowledgeable and fair to deal with a 2-3 week turnover time for custom upholstery and window coverings.

Do check out the back corner for discontinued, remnants and drastically reduced fabrics. A nice burgundy velvet was $9.95 a yard instead of $27. A Waverly floral was $9.95 instead of $20.

They have pre-cut samples for you, if you need to see it at home. For my little “do it yourself” job, I got a yard of poly blend jacquard fabric at $12.95 instead of $20 to cover the seat of my antique vanity bench.

At Off the Bolt, they make it easy to shop, cheerfully answer questions, will offer up ideas and solutions to your fabric and upholstery needs… all at affordable prices. You can bet, I’ll be back.

Interior Designers Love Di Giacomo Upholstery in Woodland Hills

Among our most discerning customers are interior designers. They have often been at their craft for dozens of years and really know how to finish a room to make their own clients happy.

So when interior designers call on us to help them, we’re especially happy to be a part of their team. Here is what Jana Design Interiors had to say about working with Di Giacomo Upholstery and Off The Bolt Fabrics over the years.

I have been relying on Di Giacomo Upholstery and Off The Bolt for fantastic re-upholstery, custom upholstered furniture, window treatments and an excellent fabric selection for the past 4 years. I was introduced to the company by a client who had been using their services for over 20 years and insisted on them doing all the upholstery work for the renovation of their home.

From the start I found them to be extremely knowledgeable and creative while we collaborated on the selection of fabrics and drew up the plans. The outcome was the best part of all as the 5- re-upholstered pieces looked like better than brand new.

On subsequent projects over the years they have also fabricated new upholstered sofas and chairs for my clients. They always follow the plans to a T and the end result continuously exceeds all of our expectations.

As an interior designer, I am only as good as the people who I collaborate with and Digiacomo Upholstery and Off The Bolt have helped make me both profitable and loved by my clients!

Customer Service from a Fabric Store?

We’re always especially proud when a customer writes to tell us that they had a good experience in our store. Customer service is so important to us because we want all of our customers to get exactly what they want. So we were especially glad when we got this note from shopper Lynn.

I recently purchased fabric and had many cushions made for our home. I was extremely impressed with the high level of customer service I received from one of your employees – Sylvia was my coordinator and your sales rep.

Sylvia continually showed enthusiasm and qualities of doing her job “always” above and beyond the “call of duty” and she handled my job with great skill and dedication …..you should be more than proud to have her on your team. I wanted you to know she is one great employee for Off the Bolt.
